Creating Workouts

Stride uses AI to help you build structured workouts through a simple conversational interface.

Starting a New Workout#

From the Workouts page, tap New Workout. This opens the AI workout builder, which works like a chat.

Describe the workout you want in natural language. For example:

  • "Create a 60-minute sweet spot workout for cycling"
  • "I want a 45-minute tempo run with warm-up and cool-down"
  • "Build me a VO2 max interval session, 4x4 minutes"

Stride’s AI will generate a complete structured workout with:

  • Named segments
  • Duration for each segment
  • Power or pace targets

Refining Your Workout#

After the initial workout is generated, you can continue the conversation to adjust it. Just type what you want to change, such as:

  • "Make the intervals longer"
  • "Add a longer warm-up"
  • "Reduce the recovery between efforts"
  • "Change it to 5 intervals instead of 4"

The AI updates the workout structure based on your feedback, so you can iterate until it matches your goals.

Saving Your Workout#

When you’re happy with the workout, tap Accept to save it.

You can then set:

  • Name – A clear, descriptive title for the workout
  • Description – What the workout targets and any notes or instructions

Once saved, the workout is added to your library and can be:

  • Used in training plans
  • Assigned to specific activities

AI-Enhanced Names and Descriptions#

Stride can also use AI to optimise your workout’s name and description. This helps make your workouts clearer and more descriptive, especially for other users browsing the shared library.

Workout Structure#

Every workout is built from segments. Each segment includes:

  • Name – e.g. "Warm-up", "Interval 1", "Recovery"
  • Duration – in seconds
  • Low target and high target – for power or pace
  • Repeat settings – for interval blocks that repeat

Targets are typically expressed relative to a base metric, such as percentage of FTP for cycling workouts.

By combining segments with clear targets, Stride’s AI helps you quickly create precise, repeatable training sessions.

Get Better AI Results

Include duration, intensity (e.g. sweet spot, tempo, VO2 max), and sport (run, ride) in your prompt for more accurate workouts.

  1. Go to the Workouts page.
  2. Tap New Workout to open the AI builder.
  3. Describe the workout you want in the chat.
  4. Refine it by asking for changes (e.g. more intervals, longer warm-up).
  5. Tap Accept when you’re satisfied.
  6. Add a Name and Description.
  7. Save the workout to your library for future use.
