Tests and Daily Check-ins

Stride keeps two kinds of body and nutrition data alongside your training: short daily check-ins, and occasional tests such as a DEXA scan.

Daily check-ins#

Five check-ins sit with your other metrics, under Daily Check-in:

Check-inWhat to enter
Urine Specific GravityThe reading from a refractometer, for example 1.012
Urine ColourYour first urine of the day, from clear to orange
Basal TemperatureYour temperature on waking, before you get up
AppetiteHow hungry you feel, from extremely hungry to extremely full
Urine OsmolalityA lab reading in mOsm/kg, usually taken the morning after a race

On the web, open Metrics in the sidebar, select Add metric and choose the check-in. In the app, tap Add (or +) and choose Record Metric. Urine colour and appetite are picked from a list; the others are numbers. Temperature follows your units setting.

Your coach can add a check-in for you while viewing your account, and it shows who entered it.

Tests#

Open Tests in the sidebar to see your test results and add your own. Choose Add test and pick the kind:

  • DEXA scan: total, fat and lean mass and bone density. Stride works out your fat percentage.
  • InBody scan: weight, muscle mass, fat mass and body water from a bioimpedance scale.
  • Skinfolds: the eight sites in millimetres. Stride adds up the sum once all eight are in.
  • Ultrasound: fat thickness at eight sites, measured by ultrasound.
  • Circumferences: arm, thigh, waist, hips and calf.
  • Sweat test: weight before and after, what you drank and ate, and the conditions. Stride works out your sweat rate, how much weight you lost and, with a sodium reading, how much sodium you lose an hour.
  • Bicarbonate blood test and Bicarbonate and weight, for planning a bicarbonate protocol.
  • Low residue diet, Ketone ester and Basal metabolic rate.

Each kind has a chart above a table of results. For the bicarbonate and low residue protocols, enter your weight for each of the four days with the test, or leave a day empty and Stride uses your weight log for it.

Who sees what

Results you add are always visible to you and your coaches. When your team's staff record a result, they choose who sees it: you and the staff, all staff, or only staff with a particular role such as nutrition or medical.

Frequently asked questions

Can my coach see my test results?
Yes. Results you add yourself are visible to you and to the coaches and team admins of your teams, like the rest of your training data.
Why can't I see a test my team did?
Your team's staff choose who sees each result they record. Some are kept to staff, or to nutrition or medical staff, until they have talked them through with you.
