Recording Activities
Stride supports several ways to get your training data in: automatic sync from your devices, file uploads and manual entry. Once an activity is in Stride, it is automatically processed to calculate training metrics, zones, weather data and more.
Auto-sync from devices#
The easiest way to get activities into Stride is to connect your device account. Once linked, activities sync automatically within a few minutes of being saved to your device. Connect your accounts from the Settings > Connections page.
Supported platforms#
- Garmin Connect - activities from any Garmin device sync automatically once you link your Garmin account.
- Wahoo - activities from Wahoo devices (ELEMNT, KICKR) sync through your Wahoo account.
How sync works#
- Complete and save your activity on your device.
- The device uploads to Garmin Connect or Wahoo.
- Stride receives the activity and begins processing (usually within a few minutes).
- Processing adds training metrics, zone analysis, weather data and power curve calculations.
- The activity appears on your dashboard and calendar.
File upload#
You can upload activity files directly to Stride. Supported formats:
- .fit - the standard format used by most modern cycling computers and GPS watches. This preserves all sensor data.
- .zip - compressed FIT files, often exported from device manufacturer websites.
To upload, use the upload option in the app. FIT files contain the richest data and are always the preferred format.
Manual entry#
If you do not have a file (forgotten device, equipment failure, gym session without a sensor), you can manually log an activity. Required fields:
- Date and time - when the session started.
- Duration - how long the session lasted.
- Activity type - ride, run, swim, or other.
You can also add a Training Score if you have an estimate. Manual entries ensure your training load calculations stay accurate even when you do not have detailed sensor data.
Data quality tips#
- Calibrate your power meter before important sessions to ensure accurate wattage data.
- Start recording before you move so the device locks GPS and sensor connections before you begin.
- Check sensor connections in the first minute of your session. Missing power or heart rate from the start cannot be recovered.
- Keep your device charged for long sessions. A device that runs out of battery mid-ride loses the rest of the data.
- Save and sync promptly after finishing. This reduces the chance of data loss and gets your activity into Stride faster.
Troubleshooting#
If an activity is not appearing in Stride:
- Check that the activity has finished uploading to Garmin Connect or Wahoo.
- Verify your connection is still active in Settings > Connections.
- If the activity appears but data is missing (no power, no heart rate), the issue is usually with the original recording. Check that your sensors were connected during the session.
- For duplicate activities, Stride attempts to detect and prevent duplicates automatically. If one appears, you can delete the duplicate from the activity page.
