Staff Discussion and Test Results

On the coach dashboard, select an athlete to open their panel. It has tabs for Overview, Progress and Tests, and staff also get the Discussion beside the Overview.

Discussion#

The Discussion is one long conversation about the athlete for everyone who coaches them: the coach of their group, the team admins above it, and any nutritionist, doctor or performance staff on the team. It sits in a panel on the right of the athlete's Overview, with the newest message at the bottom and the box for writing pinned beneath it. Write a note or record a voice note, as you would on an activity. The athlete never sees it.

On a wide screen the panel is open by default. Use the button at the top of the panel to hide it, and the Discussion button in the athlete's header to bring it back; Stride remembers your choice. The button shows how many messages you haven't read. On a narrower screen the panel is closed, and the same button opens it over the page.

A new comment notifies every coach and team admin on the athlete's team and the teams above it. Athletes with unread comments show a count on the board.

Pro tip

A weekly update, such as a nutritionist's Monday note, is simply a comment in the discussion, so the whole history stays in one place.

Tests#

Tests holds the athlete's test results, grouped as body composition (DEXA and InBody scans, skinfolds, ultrasound, circumferences), fuelling and supplements (bicarbonate tests, low residue diets, ketone ester, basal metabolic rate) and sweat and hydration. Choose Add test to record one.

The list on the left shows the kinds of test the athlete has results for, with how many and when the latest was. Overview shows one card per kind: its headline value, how it changed since the previous test and a small trend. Choose a kind to see its latest values with their change since last time, a chart, and a table of every test. Click a point on the chart or a row in the table to open that test in full, with the change in every value and arrows to step to the previous or next test. Tables show only the columns that have data; use Columns to show the rest. Stride works out the calculated values, such as the sum of skinfolds or sweat rate. For the bicarbonate and low residue protocols, enter the weights taken during the protocol; a day left empty uses the athlete's weight log.

The athlete sees the same results on their Tests page when they are shared with them.

Who sees a result#

When you record a test you choose who sees it:

  • Athlete and staff: the athlete and every coach and team admin over them.
  • All staff: every coach and team admin over the athlete, but not the athlete.
  • Selected staff: only staff with the roles you tick, such as nutrition or medical.

You can change it later, for example to share a DEXA scan with the athlete once you have talked it through.

Staff roles#

Team admins give each coach and team admin their roles from the People table: open the row's menu and choose Staff functions. A person can have several, for example Nutrition and Performance.

Team defaults#

Team admins set who sees each kind of test by default on the team's Settings tab, under Test result sharing. Groups inherit the setting from the team above unless they set their own.

Frequently asked questions

Can the athlete read the discussion?
No. Only the coaches and team admins over the athlete can read or write it, even if the athlete is also staff on another team.
Who is notified when I write in the discussion?
Every coach and team admin on the athlete's team and the teams above it, except you. A coach who has turned off comment notifications for that athlete or team still sees it in the app.
